The
Sunday Telegraph Guide to Looking After Your Property by Jeff Howell.
Highly recommended. When looking after gardens, we're often looking after
the attached houses too. This book demystifies all aspects of property
maintenance, and is a frequently referred-to volume in our house. Jeff
Howell's column in a Sunday newspaper many years ago gave me the confidence
to renovate Millennium Shed.
Where Wizards Stay Up Late: The Origins of the Internet
A Brief History of the Future: Origins of the Internet - John Naughton
The two books above have been recent reading, because I'm interested in the history of the internet, having established this website in the last few years and realising how many people worked so diligently, with such vision, for many years before I arrived here. Both are recommended, but if I had to recommend just one, it would be the John Naughton book, as it personalises the phenomenon of the internet and places it properly in a context I understand - what our fathers and mothers might have achieved had this technology been available.
